Grommet Strap Instructions
The
Grommet Strap is 18" in length and has a buckle
and a Velcro ® Brand closure which allows for easy storage
of hoses, cords and cables. With a compartment door
"that opens upwards" use one at the top
and one at the bottom of the cord. Screw the strap
to the door or borrow one of the bolts in the latch
assembly. (See Cover Picture)
With
"laterally opening" doors you just need
one strap (See Figure 1). Straps can also be used
inside of compartments to hang cords up or used
to secure cargo in the cargo bay.
When you hang
a cord on a compartment door that swings upward
you need to secure it with two straps to stop it
from falling all over the place. Make sure you secure
it more to the bottom of the door, when it’s
in the up position so that when you close the door
it doesn't sneak down and get in the way of closing
the door itself.
Attach the bottom
strap (the one at the bottom, near the hinge when
the door is open) first and hang your cord. Close
the door to see how it's going to hang. You can
lengthen the strap somewhat to adjust for length.
Attach the second strap to the cord so you can see
where to place the screw. I have used 1” screws
and just used my drill with a screwdriver bit in
it to hang the cords. I have hung a 25' 30 amp cord,
a 50' 10 gauge, a 25' water hose and all kinds of
smaller cords using the straps and have driven thousands
of miles with them. Works just great!
