February means Valentines Day and more!

Feb 2009

Valentines HeartHere it is February and Valentines Day is quickly upon us.  For Judy and I it is our 24rd anniversary.  I hope your Valentines day is as special as ours. Happy Valentines day to everyone out there.

The Quartzsite Shows are over and were a great success for most vendors.  We had a terrific show.  Quartzsite is one of our favorite shows of the year.  Not because of the weather or dust that's for sure.  However this year we had really nice weather with little wind and rain.  It was the warmest show we can recall in years.  Most years we freeze in the mornings and don't get our jackets off until the afternoon.  This year it was quite balmy with some days being in the high 70's.  It was nice to see familiar faces again as many people make Quartzsite an annual destination and we are one of their stops.

You may recall that last year I wrote about the two end tents coming down due to the high winds.  This year there was only the big main tent and it held up just fine.

Thanks to all of you who patronized our booth in Quartzsite and also back east in Florida where Ken & Marilyn Murphy are doing shows.  We all really appreciate your business and the kind comments that are always forthcoming.

One of the really nice things that happened all the time in Quartzsite was the number of people who came up and thanked me for the newsletter.  The comments were greatly appreciated.  I would like to ask for your help.  I would like to increase the readership of the newsletter and would ask if you could forward the newsletter on to other people and encourage them to sign up.  The more readers we have, the more unique RVing products we can bring you.  Anyone can sign up by going to the website home page at www.coilnwrap.com and sign up. To help you out, I have enclosed a forward link below.   Thanks for your assistance.

Oh and by the way, please don't forget to go and add comments about your favorite products.  Here is a comment we got about the Bag Buddies from Ken Bettice.  "I have bad hands, not arthritis, but this is just great for those plastic bags!  BUT I found another great use!! Most gallon cans, paint & stains, have wire handles. With these, if need be, I can carry four cans without hurting my hands. In fact this is what I thought they were for.....GOOD PRODUCT KEN."  Another good use is for taking clothes on hangers back and forth to and from the rig.  Bag Buddies are a product that we haven't talked about in the newsletter.  There are lots of products on the website we haven't talked about so take some time and check out the website a little closer.  You may find something of interest to you or your friends.

Water Test Kit Now Available!
Last month I asked what you thought about a Water Test Kit that would allow you to test the water in your holding tanks in your RV, boat or perhaps at your cabin.   Your response was very clear.  You told me you wanted us to add this product to our product line.  So we have.

Water Check PillowThe test determines the presence or absence of coliform and E.coli bacteria, indicative of fecal pollution. RVers often fill up their tanks at campgrounds that have their own wells.  These wells are not necessarily tested as often as they should be providing the opportunity for contaminated water to be put into the RV tank.  Anyone using a well or treated water system is susceptible to contamination by human or animal waste.  In addition, most RVers do not sanitize their tanks regularly and may not realize their tanks can be a breeding ground for disease. To ensure drinking water safety, health authorities suggest home, RV and boat owners test their water at least twice per year. Performing the WaterCheck™ test, will protect people from the dangers of pathogenic diseases such as Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba, Giardia and Typhoid fever.

WaterCheck™ is based on the unique ability of coliform bacteria to utilize specialized nutrients and reagents to form a distinctive blue-green color. The presence or absence of a single cfu of coliform/E.coli in water is an international standard measure to determine safe drinking water. If the water sample is contaminated with just a single cfu, a visible blue-green color will develop.

Instructions
1. Run tap water for 2 to 3 minutes. Tear perforated strip and open bag by pulling white tabs. Fill bag with water, up to the fill line (Approximately 100 ml). Do not touch inside of bag.
2. Remove excess air and roll bag four or five times around wire strip. Bend wires to seal.
3. Remove divider clip. Mix powder into water until completely dissolved (10 to 30 seconds).
4. Place bag out of the children's reach and let sit for two to three days at room temperature.
OBSERVE COLOUR: Yellow: No Coliforms detected. Blue/Green: Water may be unsafe to drink. Coliform bacteria often originate from non sewage sources, and do not necessarily, but may, imply a health hazard, contact your local Health unit.

You may be surprised about what you find in your tank.  Best to be safe and not sorry.  Let me know how your testing goes.  Read next months newsletter and I will tell you how to purify your tank.

Water Tank Tools

New Item
ToiletPaper RollWe have had so many requests for this product that we have added it to our product line.  It is the best gauge I have worked with.  You can adjust the pressure on this adjustable gauge and set the pressure at the level you want.  This assumes that the campground has that level of water pressure.  Let's say you set it at 60 psi and the campground only has 45.  It will read 45 psi.  You use a screwdriver to adjust the pressure setting.  This unit sells for $49.99.  I wouldn't run the regulator any higher than 65 psi personally.  If your RV is older than 1990 I would recommend that you stay with the the 40 psi regulator.

Speaking of Pressure Regulators, if you don't need the adjustable regulator above you may want to change your old 40 psi pressure regulator to the new High Flow Regulator that allows 50-55 psi into the rig.  This gives you about a 20% boost both in water flow and water pressure.  The increased pressure and water flow is a real joy.  Match that up with our shower head and you will think you have died and gone to heaven.  This high flow pressure regulator sells for $14.99.

Many RVers add water to their tank by way of a gravity feed system, one where you put a hose in the side of the unit and turn the tap on and wait for it to fill up.  This can be a tedious and time consuming operation.  You stuff the hose into the water filler tube and it comesToiletPaper Roll out and waters the street!  Or you have to stand there and hold it!  It fills so slowly!  Our Hose Filler Adapter connects to the threaded water fill cap on the RV and allows you to fill your holding tank much quicker with less stress and problems.   Now the hose won't jump out and water the street.  There are large air holes in the connector allowing air to escape much quicker from your tank, allowing you to fill faster.  Your hose doesn't kink and you don't have to stand there and hold the connection.  There is a convenient shutoff included with the Hose Filler Adapter so you can shut it off at the RV when water starts to overflow from the air holes.  You can also use our Quick Hose & Faucet Connector to make the connection to the Hose Filler Adapter even easier.

ToiletPaper RollThe sister product allows you to add water to your tank when you are dry camping.  This convenient Funnel Filler attaches to the threaded water connection on the rig and has a chain that connects to the self adhesive clip (included) on the side of the rig.  This allows one person to be able to add water to the rig and only one  gets wet!  You can also add bleach to disinfect or antifreeze to winterize your unit.  You may not use it often, but when you need it, you REALLY need it.   These two products were invented by an RVer for RVers!  These are two great products.

This month we are having a special promotion on the above two products.  Individually they cost $19 each but if you order both you can get the pair for $33, a $5 savings.

ToiletPaper RollThe Water Bandit allows you to slip the soft rubber end over the end of a faucet with little or no threads and be able to get water.  State Parks are famous for cutting the threads off water faucets and this product is designed to allow you to connect and fill up your tank.
